چکیده

This paper looks at the differences in dielectric response between epoxy resin composites with conventional and nanoscale alumina filler. Host material, namely bisphenol-A epoxy resin, is the same for all samples. Preparation of the samples is described in detail. Both filler types are treated in similar fashion to ensure comparability of the results. An even distribution of the alumina in case of the nanoscale filler was validated by means of transmission electron microscopy. It is shown by means of dielectric spectroscopy how the particle size and preparation influence the material properties. Measurements were performed in a broad frequency range between 0.01 and 10 MHz, for temperatures between -20C and the glass transition temperature of the host material close to 120C. Possible explanations for the witnessed behavior are presented and the contributing factors discussed.

Preparation and characterization of Epoxy/Lead oxide nano-composite for shield against gamma and X-rays

Polymer nano-composites are a group of materials that represent proper mechanical, chemical, thermal and optical properties due to the presence of certain percentages of a filler in a polymeric matrix. In this study lead oxide nanoparticles were prepared by direct precipitation method. Then the lead oxide-epoxy resin nanocomposite was prepared by mixing (without solvent) with different weight p...

The influence of interfaces and water uptake on the dielectric response of epoxy-cubic boron nitride composites

In this study, epoxy-cubic boron nitride composites are fabricated, and their dielectric response is investigated. They exhibit the same trend as epoxy composites reinforced with other filler types. Thus, at low filler concentrations, they exhibit a lower relative permittivity than neat epoxy. As the fill grade further increases, the relative permittivity of the composites increases as well. It...

On the Study of Mechanical Properties of Aluminum/Nano-Alumina Composites Produced via Powder Injection Molding

Powder Injection Molding (PIM) is a precision manufacturing process used for production of advanced composites. Mixing of polymeric binder with metal powders, molding of feedstock, de-binding of brown parts and sintering of green samples are four main steps of this process. In the present study, the compounds containing multi-component binder system and aluminum/ nano-alumina (0-9 wt.%) powders...
